Blackberry

Intro:

To clean blackberries, gently rinse them under cool running water in a colander, or soak them in a mixture of one part vinegar to three parts water for about 20 minutes before rinsing. Make sure to dry them thoroughly to prevent mold and keep them fresh longer.

 

Method Steps Purpose
Water Rinse 1. Place blackberries in a colander. 2. Rinse gently under cool running water. 3. Drain and pat dry with paper towels. Removes dirt and contaminants.
Vinegar Soak 1. Mix 1 part white vinegar with 3 parts water. 2. Soak blackberries for 20 minutes. 3. Rinse with cold water and dry. Kills mold spores and extends shelf life.
Salt or Baking Soda Soak 1. Mix 1 tablespoon of kosher salt or baking soda per cup of water. 2. Soak for 5 minutes. 3. Rinse under cold water and dry. Removes pesticides and bacteria.
